Drying fruits and vegetables with food dehydrator


     Drying of food supplies was the most popular way to store them long time ago, when there were no conservation in glass jars. This method of storage has not lost its popularity and now, because maximum amounts of vitamins and minerals are stored in dried foods.

3. Swept volume.

Amount of foods that you can to dry at one time depends on swept volume of dehydrator. Swept volume depends on the number of pallets (sections) in which you can put products. You can dry more products if there are more pallets in dehydrator.

From 3 to 8 pallets may be in the food dehydrator. There are 5 pallets there most commonly.

Size of these pallets is also important. Circular pallets have a 32-33 cm diameter very often.

Pallets can be transparent or not. You can visually monitor the drying process using transparent pallets.

4. Case Material.

Dehydrator case can be made of plastic or metal. The plastic case is more convenient for household use because it is more lightweight. Also, plastic is less overheating during drying. Most cases of home kitchen dehydrators are made of plastic.

5. Protection against overheating.

The drying process requires high temperatures, and it requires a possibility of automatic device shutdown in case of overheating. Auto shutdown is a very necessary function that helps you to avoid troubles.

You also need to pay attention to user control panel when buying dehydrator. The control can be electronically (by using the buttons and electronic display panel) or mechanically (by using of simple regulators).
